Balesin is approximately a 25-minute plane ride from Manila, yet is a world completely unto itself.http://www.balesin.com/
Balesin Island Club is a members-only island resort located just 60 nautical miles east of Metro Manila. Unless you’re a member there is absolutely no way you can enter the island (unless you know someone who is a member then you can come in as a “guest”).

As much as I enjoyed touring the themed villas & taking photos of picturesque sceneries, the ultimate question comes to mind: Is a Balesin membership (approx 4M!!!) worth it?
The answer is no. There are a number of reasons for this, but from my personal experience, the top 3 would be:
- STRESS & HASSLE. There is absolutely no guarantee what time your flight would be — you’ll only find out the Sunday before your flight (so what if your flight is on Monday, right?)
- NO PROPER MAINTENANCE. During my visit to St. Tropez (honestly one of my favourite villas! Besides what I’m about to say next…) the aircon is broken down, no electricity in some sockets, etc.
- DIRTY BEACH. Maybe this depends on which beach you go to, but the beach near the Clubhouse was disgusting. Cigarette butts + seaweed everywhere… no thanks.
Balesin isn’t all bad. As I said, it’s really enjoyable and the scenery is incredible! My advice: One visit is enough.
