  • Around the World in One Day |Balesin Photo Diary

Balesin is approximately a 25-minute plane ride from Manila, yet is a world completely unto itself. http://www.balesin.com/ Balesin Island Club is a members-only island resort located just 60 nautical miles east of Metro Manila. Unless you’re a member there is absolutely no way you can enter the island (unless you know someone who is a member then you can come in as a “guest”). Check out the photos of the themed villas below! Bali Phuket Mykonos St. Tropez Costa del Sol Toscana As much as I enjoyed touring the themed villas & taking photos of picturesque sceneries, the ultimate question comes to mind: Is a Balesin membership (approx 4M!!!) worth…

  • Casa Santa Museum | Christmas in Antipolo (Part II)

It’s Christmas all year round! I wanted to maximise my visit to Antipolo, and since it’s the Christmas season, I decided to visit the famous Casa Santa Museum. I’ve heard so much about this museum and I can’t believe it took me this long before I went to have a look! Originally, Casa Santa was a family rest house, and in 1995, it was converted into a Santa Claus museum. The exterior of the museum looks like a hybrid of a ginger bread house and Santa’s workshop — I LOVED IT. There were a lot of spots to take photos and I appreciated that the staff were very friendly and…

  • Walking Around Washington DC | 5 Must-See Sites

Supreme Court Why it’s worth the visit: Although tourists can’t enter the Supreme Court and just roam around to take photos I do think it’s still worth a visit even if it’s just from the outside. The property itself is AMAZING. The exterior is made mostly from marble, and the columns crafted from Italy’s premium ivory buff and golden marble. Lincoln Memorial Why it’s worth the visit: This is definitely one of my favourite spots during my stroll around Washington DC! The memorial dedicated to the Untied States’ 16th president, Abraham Lincoln, is a must-see with its large sculpture of the past president and inscriptions of 2 of his most…

  • Within the Walled City | Intramuros

Intramuros, also known as the “Walled City” is tucked within the modern city of Manila. You would not believe such a place exists in the midst of a contemporary city. Intramuros is very rich in history, and I would actually suggest to hire a local tour guide who is knowledgable of the site to get full understanding and appreciation. In a gist: it was built by the Spaniards, led by Miguel Lopez de Legaspi, in 1571 to serve as the religious, political and military centre / base of operations during their occupation. Some of my personal favourite sites to visit in Intramuros: Manila Cathedral Baluarte de San Diego — my top…

  • The Sanctuary of Apollo, Delphi

Located amidst breathtaking scenery in central Greece is the Sanctuary of Apollo at ancient Delphi. It is the home to the famous Oracle of Delphi, and was considered to be the holiest site in Ancient Greece. It was also believed to be the center of the world; according to the Greek mythology, Zeus released two eagles from opposite ends of the earth and they met in the sky above Delphi. Impaling one another with their beaks, they fell to the ground on the very center of the world, and was marked by the sacred Omphalos, or “navel stone.” Later, Apollo killed the serpent Python (son of Mother Earth), guardian of…
