Secretly tucked in busy Makati, Mondokoro Ramenba offers the chance to be transported to Japan with awakened senses.
Over the weekend, I finally tried Mendokoro Ramenba after hearing much buzz about it. I’m not a fan of restaurant fads and overcrowded places, so I decided I’ll pass on, what people have been claiming to be, the BEST ramen in the Philippines . “A very big and exaggerated claim for sure!”, I thought. Plus, as someone who has tried Ichiran, the bars are set and high — nothing compares. Or so I thought.
Anyway, fast forward to March 2018, my boyfriend, who is a very persistent person and who does not take ‘no’ for an answer when it comes to food, was able to convince me to give “the best ramen in the Philippines” a try. To my great surprise, the 1 hr wait was 100% worth it!
I ordered the shoyu ramen (without spring onions, of course!). The creamy yellow broth was thick and rich, the smooth, hand pulled noodles was firm, and the char siu was excellent.
I highly recommend Mendokoro Ramenba if you’re into ramen like I am; it’s worth the wait and worth its price (Php 410).
