Walking Around Washington DC | 5 Must-See Sites

Supreme Court

Why it’s worth the visit:

Although tourists can’t enter the Supreme Court and just roam around to take photos I do think it’s still worth a visit even if it’s just from the outside. The property itself is AMAZING. The exterior is made mostly from marble, and the columns crafted from Italy’s premium ivory buff and golden marble.

Lincoln Memorial

Why it’s worth the visit:

This is definitely one of my favourite spots during my stroll around Washington DC! The memorial dedicated to the Untied States’ 16th president, Abraham Lincoln, is a must-see with its large sculpture of the past president and inscriptions of 2 of his most famous speeches.

The White House

Why it’s worth the visit:

This site is a must-see without even having to explain it — no Washington tour is complete without visiting the home of The United States’ president. Although heavily guarded and there are high school students on field trip most of the time, you can still surely take a nice photo (but very difficult!).

Washington Monument

Why it’s worth the visit:

The Washington Monument is one of the most picturesque sites in Washington DC. It was built to commemorate the United States’ first president, George Washington. This structure looks so simple, but it’s actually what makes it look so beautiful — the almost-bare landscape where the Washington Monument stands makes it elegantly astonishing.

The U.S. Capitol

Why it’s worth the visit:

The US Capitol, or also known as “Capitol Building”, is the home of the United States Congress, and the seat of the legislative branch of the U.S. federal government. Besides being another picturesque site, it’s also among the most symbolically important and architecturally impressive buildings.
